Hurry! Schedule Your Bad Breath Treatment Today

Our Austin dentist office offers a bad breath treatment that can improve your life. This is no exaggeration considering that if you are known for having bad breath, it could seriously be hurting your social interactions. Halitosis, severe bad breath, can become so significant that people can make a confined space smell bad simply by speaking. While this is the extreme and worst case scenario, if your breath is constantly smelling foul, you could be headed in that direction.

In order to address this issue, you should start by purchasing a new toothbrush, toothpaste, and tongue cleaner. Many people make the mistake of using their same toothbrush for too long. It needs to be replaced every three months, and if it starts to look funny or smell bad, this is a clear sign that it needs replacing. Otherwise, you are not getting a good clean but simply moving bacteria from one location to the next. Simultaneously, if you have a generic toothpaste, it may not be providing the best clean for you. Switch to a toothpaste that contains fluoride and is a fresh mint flavor for good breath. Many of our patients have also experienced great success by using a tongue scraper. This is a simple plastic tool that is barely larger than a toothbrush but it works wonders. You simply place it on top of your freshly cleaned tongue and scrape the surface of your tongue towards you. Rinse your mouth and spit, in order to eliminate some of the bacteria that may have built up. We also suggest, rinsing with an antiseptic mouthwash in order to kill any bacteria that may be remaining on the tongue. If you follow this healthy routine twice a day, you should start to see an improvement in your oral health and how your breath smells.

We would be remiss, not to remind you to floss twice a day as well. Many people have bad breath because they don't floss and allow both food and plaque to build up in between the teeth. Without removing it, the food and teeth can start to decay, producing a foul-smelling odor. When you schedule a bad breath treatment with our Austin dental office, that is where our treatment begins – cleaning your teeth and gums. We will remove the plaque that remains after your at-home care. A thorough cleaning of your teeth, gums, and tongue, will improve the way that your breath smells and since we have dental tools and special lights, we can see and reach into the areas that you simply cannot, in order to ensure that your cleaning is complete.

Immediately after your bad breath treatment, your breath should start to smell better. If you are someone that suffers from extreme halitosis, you may want to schedule these appointments for once every three months to ensure that the buildup and the subsequent smell doesn't come back. Otherwise, seeing us twice a year should be enough when combined with ongoing care at home. Finally, remember to avoid the garlic fries!
